Investing in Our Future

Sean has always delivered results for Western New York. Sean believes in bipartisan problem solving and has worked across the aisle to move our region forward.

As an Assemblyman representing Hamburg and parts of Buffalo, Sean has worked hard to support state resources for Upstate New York to invest in our environment, attract more businesses, transform our infrastructure, improve our education system, and create more local jobs. Sean has also ensured continued support for seniors, people with disabilities, those struggling with addiction, and our veterans. He works every day to create progress, fight for women's rights and the LGBTQ+ community, and advocate for a society free from discrimination and prejudice.

To support innovation, Sean has championed the 43 North business competition which has brought new ideas and business investment to WNY. Young people are moving back to WNY and looking for these types of jobs, and Sean knows we have to continue to support start-up companies.

Repairing our roads, bridges, and public water Infrastructure, and expanding broadband internet is an important way to promote economic development and create good paying jobs. That’s why Sean has fought for billions of dollars in state investment to focus on infrastructure upgrades. Sean also fought to make sure that upstate infrastructure projects were funded at the same level as downstate projects in the state budget.

A Champion for Education

Sean is a tireless advocate for students, teachers, and education in New York State. He works every day to make sure New York is investing in education and our children's future. Every child in Western New York deserves to benefit from a great education, no matter what zip code they live in. That’s why Sean fought for and won billions more in education aid, to help school districts hire more teachers, lower class sizes, and make investments in arts, music, and sports.

Sean worked every year to end the Gap Elimination Adjustment, and he made sure the state budget ended GEA permanently. Sean also fought for significant funding for statewide full-day Universal Pre-K, because starting the learning process early helps children develop critical skills and prepares them for success.

Sean has also made college affordability one of his top education priorities. Sean has fought for free college tuition for New York families, increased TAP funding, and secured millions of dollars of investment for community colleges. Sean also knows that not every student wants to attend a four-year college. That’s why Sean worked hard, and successfully pushed the State Board of Regents to create a Career and Technical Diploma for high school students who want to choose an alternative educational pathway. The new diploma option will ensure they are career ready.

Government Reform

Sean is always fighting for our community and never forgets that he works for the people of Western New York. Fighting back against corruption is important to Sean. That’s why he helped pass laws to take pensions away from politicians convicted of felonies and close the LLC loophole to help root out big money in politics. He has also worked consistently to take on special interests and reform our economic policies to end runaway corporate subsidies.
